As if I hadn't had enough of paint!!

Image
A friend and I decided we wanted to do some watercolor painting on greeting cards mostly so invested in the time and minimal $ for a class. Did we have a blast! and was so inspired. The big sunflower was my first piece done in the class. The other two I did at home today just playing around. I think I like what I am doing. More paint... more paint. And I still don't have the last two doors inside the house done .. Mostly because they aren't here yet..

I do have some pretty talented friends

Working on glass in my shop the other day, a friend dropped in and just knocked my socks off with this purse she made.. If you look close, there is even a lipstick carrier made out of a piece of "hair on leather" attached to the strap. It is a beautiful piece of leather artwork!!

Now this is a nice sight!!

Wahoo! My first batch of homemade wine... Yet to label the bottles. Might have to wait till tomorrow. I am working on the bottle that only filled halfway... ahumm! Black Raspberry Merlot.. I am hoping my next batch will be with my very own garden products.. like maybe rhubarb wine... oh ya!!

Every day is a joy but ya gotta love Spring!

Another life begins.. Only 10 hours old this big guy is! My friend's mare had her first baby. This is a Missouri Fox Trotter and this guy is a real people horse. The mare had such a hard time, she didn't want anything to do with the baby at first. After hours of supervision to make sure she didn't harm him, her mothering instincts took over and she is now very protective and figured out this guy can relieve her discomfort so is constantly encouraging him to nurse. Thank goodness. But the true story is he thinks people are his! Great weather today and tomorrow and this is really good since we have a couple of contractors coming to start work on a pergola on the whole back end of the house. We desparately need some shade there and a pergola provides that without the worries of a snowload. And it will be good that we can set up some privacy for the hot tub (not that there is anyone around that gives a hoot!) And is it any surprised that I painted more faux bricks in the house?

Lazy Sunday Morn

Take a look at this.. it is so pretty. Nice we can appreciate the little things in life. Just trying to get motivated here. We do have a lot to do and the weather is suppose to be good today. All but two doors are done. I am so tired of smelling polyurethane... We are waiting for the doors. So I suppose we can work on repairing the fences damaged by the winter snows.

Snow Rollers on the Camas Prairie

Image
Changing pace here a bit. A friend sent me a link to National Weather Service with an interesting diddy on something I have never heard about before. Would have loved to have seen this.. "On the evening of March 31st, 2009, Tim Tevebaugh was driving home from work east of Craigmont in the southern Idaho Panhandle. Across the rolling hay fields, Tim saw a very unusual phenonmena. The snow rollers that he took pictures of are extremely rare because of the unique combination of snow, wind, temperature and moisture needed to create them. They form with light but sticky snow and strong (but not too strong) winds. These snow rollers formed during the day as they weren't present in the morning on Tim's drive to work. Based on estimations from Tim as well as the blades of grass in the picture, most of the snow rollers were about 18" in height, while the largest rollers were about 2 feet tall." "

And what is there not to love about wood!

Changing out all the doors and almost done. Two coats of sealer on each side. Nine doors and only 3 more to do now.. And you think fumes from propane are bad.. whew..

Time to Update here..Been doing Faux Brick Painting

Image
Haven't been doing much in the glass arts for about a week and am having serious withdrawals, but soon. A friend of mine did a breakaway plaster faux brick painting on a wall and it was so cool.. Here's her picture. She showed me where I could get information on how to do this so surfing I went.. And today I accomplished this: Now I am trying to think of where else I might want to do this technique.. The hardest part about doing it is gathering the courage to start. Mike really likes it.

Spring is here..Look! Flowers!!

Yesterday evening, the sunset was gorgeous, the sky was really blue and the temperature got up to almost 60. Yup Yup Yup In Monroe, where we are from, the crocus usually show up around late January or early February. Over here on the East side of Washington, they don't show up till now. So it was a very nice surprise, as I cruised the yard, taking inventory of all I have to do, and came across these little treasures. Of course, I don't even remember planting them!! I must have. The only thing here when we moved, was alfalfa. Aren't they pretty... Yes, that is a bead. When they don't come out as planned, I toss them somewhere in the yard. For the archaeologist archives...... ..
